Rachel Morgan from Kim Harrison's Hollows series
This illustration is a good example of a part of my creative process. One of the distinctive characteristics of Rachel Morgan is her red hair, but I tend to not use color in my illustrations so I have to use other keys to identify her. I spoke with a fan of the character and the series and asked her to literally bring Rachel Morgan to life. I wanted to know as much about the character and as many physical characteristics and personal idiosyncrasies as needed to distinguish her. I won't list them here but hopefully fans of Rachel Morgan look at this illustration and say "Hey that is Rachel Morgan!"
